The Altar Guild's job is crucial to every church service that is held at St. Andrew's, it's members doing all tasks of preparing the altar as well as the entire church for regular Sunday services, special holiday and weekly services, weddings, Quinceañeras, funerals and memorial services. Our purpose is to glorify God by lovingly caring for the His "home" and communion articles, with our work being mainly behind-the-scenes, striving to be un-noticed by human eyes.

This past year we transitioned from a one-person leadership into a two-person leadership, due to the "retirement" of our wonderful Henri Auterino, who has served as our leader several years, ever since just prior to the death of our last much-loved leader, Alice Warren. When the Guild was faced with Henri's decision to step down from the job as Head of Altar Guild, we found that we had no one person with time enough to devote to the job on her own. With God's help we ventured to hope that a team of two people could take on Henri's job, and we are now "Headed-Up" by Louise Bowles and Hope Warlick.

We want to make a special note of thanks and appreciation to Henri Auterino for doing the incredible work of organization and leadership that she has done these past years, and we want her to know that we would not be able to have stepped in so easily without her having served our church so efficiently and with such attention to detail. We are also extremely grateful that she has not left the Altar Guild as a servant, because we will need her hands and heart alongside us in the months and years to come. Thank you, Henri!

We are "gender-friendly" and very fortunate to have men members as well as women. This year we created a Junior Altar Guild for young men and women who are interested in learning and helping us with our work, and who will eventually become full-fledged members or the Guild who will be able to help us with our work and training in years to come. We have six members of the Junior Guild and want to thank each one of them for their help and service.

If you are interested in learning more about our work, or in becoming a member or our Altar Guild, please contact either Louise or Hope. God bless you!
